The renovation budget is one of, if not, the most important discussions that we have with our customers before we begin the project.
Listen, we understand the stigma of being asked by your local contractor the dreaded “What is your budget?” question.
We’ve put together this list of 10 important questions to ask yourself, and anyone with a say in the renovation, before deciding on your budget
…and to prepare you for that inevitable question.
What Level of renovation am I planning? See the chart above.
What are the outcomes I want from completing this renovation?
How will this renovation affect the quality of my, and my family’s, life?
Does the renovation I’m planning align with my 1 year, 5 year, and 10 year life goals? For example, will I be staying in this home for the long-term.
What is the current market value of my home and what are the recent sale priced of comparable homes in my neighbourhood?
Based on those comparable homes, does the scale of my renovation make sense for resale value?
Have I created my list of needs and wants?
How much am I comfortably willing to spend to have what I need and/or want?
Do I have a contingency set aside for the unexpected which may invariably happen during a renovation?
Have I taken into account all the steps involved in a renovation project? See our Step by Step breakdown below.
